NASA Flight Opportunities Program Award
NASA has recently selected nine space technologies for flight testing to advance innovations that addressmission needs for both the agency and the commercial space industry. Among the nine technologies and in the ranks of other awardees such Harvard University, Johns Hopkins, and Purdue University is the advanced spacecraft guidance technology developed at San Diego State University.
Dr. Ping Lu is the principal investigator: San Diego State University in San Diego, California, will test a system aiming to improve spacecraft precision landing capabilities through adaptive navigation, allowing researchers to evaluate its performance on a rocket-powered lander. This technology is planned to fly on Astrobotic’s Xodiac vehicle.
