Design, Build, and Fly team participated the AIAA DBF Competition
The SDSU DBF team attended the 23rd AIAA Design/Build/Fly Competition Fly-Off Contest held at TIMPA Field in Tucson, AZ on the weekend of April 11-14, 2019. Of the 138 university teams that submitted proposals, only 77 teams were able to attend the fly-off contest. The weather was mild in Tucson and the SDSU team enjoyed this great extra-curriculum hands-on learning activity related to their major of study.
“It was an amazing opportunity that I hope to encourage our aerospace students to participate in,” said Thanh Luu, an aerospace engineering junior, “It was a great way to get to know other students who will be in the same working industry.”
As summarized by Donald Mensah, a graduating aerospace engineering senior, “Overall, my experience with Design Build Fly has been beneficial. I currently have job offers from Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and Lockheed Martin. During my interviews with each company, my involvement in DBF have always been the talking points. I hope I can be an example of a successful product of SDSU Aerospace Engineering Department's outstanding curriculum and its diverse extracurricular opportunities outside of the classroom.”
