Aeroelasticity of Airplanes and Unmanned Systems


The research in aeroelasticity covers both low Reynolds number (unmanned flapping systems) and high Reynolds number (UAVs and innovative airplane configurations) aerorelastic problems. Current topics include the fundamental understanding of the effects of nonlinearities in both aerodynamic and structural fields with particular emphasis on aeroelastic static and dynamic instabilities and limit cycle oscillations.
Collaborations with US industry, academic institutions, and defense research labs are in place.
